New infertility tests and services offered

The initial offering of three new tests and one special procedure in the management of infertility was recently announced at the St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City during the inauguration of the Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine and Infertility (CARMI). Dr. Virgilio Novero, Jr, head of CARMI, mentioned that the hospital now offers laser assisted hatching, sperm DNA fragmentation test (Halo-test), sperm antibody test (MAR test) and will soon be offering serum Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) and high magnification Intracytoplasmic sperm injection/ICSI (IMSI), all meant to help manage infertile couples and improve success rates.

CARMI Opens its Doors

The St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City last October 4, 2011 officially opened its Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine and Infertility (CARMI), the hospital’s state-of-the-art facility offering special services to couples having fertility problems. Department of Health Undersecretary Ted Herbosa graced the simple inauguration ceremonies along with St. Luke’s Medical Center President Jose Ledesma, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joven Cuanang, and Dr. Virgilio Novero, Jr., head of CARMI. Envisioned to be another center of excellence, CARMI has been designed to be the country’s most advanced IVF laboratory with its top-of the-line equipment and the introduction of new tests and services that will help it deliver world-class infertility results.
